The original recipe starts with a bowlful of self-rising flour and ends with a pot full of slippery, toothsome dumplings. Feel free to serve this dish with as much of the resulting broth as you'd like. Flour dumplings are added to a peach syrupy mixture to create a wonderful dessert.

Using cream or canned milk instead of the milk gives this a creamier texture but also more calories. These are fabulous waffles and so quick & easy to make. Gently drop the dumplings into the simmering chicken broth. Stir them gently to prevent sticking. Serve with the carrots on the side and sprinkle the chicken and dumplings with a bit of chopped parsley, if desired.
